COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier has his sights set on bigger things in the Southeastern Conference, even if some Gamecock fans still aren't sure what to expect.
Spurrier recalls walking by a school building recently when someone asked, "Hey coach, are we going to have a winning record?"
Spurrier answered, saying the team is looking for much more this season after its record-setting, 11-win campaign that was the most wins in school history. Spurrier says the Gamecocks have a shot to gain their second SEC Eastern Division bid in three seasons.
The defense finished third in the SEC and in the country last year, behind LSU and Alabama. The offense is again led by tailback Marcus Lattimore, who says he's completely healed from last year's knee surgery.
