COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier is usually known for his sharp tongue and quick wit, but this year, he hopes a little reverse psychology will work for him as well.

The Gamecocks are expected to have a very productive running game with the return of junior tail back Marcus Lattimore from a season-ending knee injury.

When asked about the strength of his running game, Spurrier says that's exactly he wants his opponents to think.

"That's what we want everybody to think -- that we're going to be a big running team," Spurrier said, "and then we may be one."

"Or they're thinking the opposite: Spurrier thinks we're going to believe that they're a running team, so we're going to come out and try to throw for the first game, but we're probably using reverse psychology. They think that they're thinking that we think we're doing -- then you try and do the opposite. Whatever that is."

Whatever Spurrier's actually thinking will definitely have teams guessing until the game clock strikes zero at the end of the fourth quarter.

The Gamecocks will suit up for their first game of the season against Vanderbilt on Aug. 30.
