Tanner promises to be "armchair quarterback" for all USC sports

New South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner appears to be trying a more interactive approach when it comes to his new job within the Athletics Department as the former baseball coach joined Twitter late last week.

"Thank you Gamecock Nation for all your tweets. I'm learning the lingo," Tanner tweeted.

One of Tanner's first actions on the site was to open up the floor for questions directed to him through the hashtag #TannerOnTwitter.

During the hour-long question/answer interview by fans, Tanner said he has three goals for the department under his stewardship: continuing to upgrade facilities, enhance the student-athlete experience, and success across all sports for a top 20 Director's Cup finish.

One of the first questions asked to Tanner was if the new grounds surrounding Williams-Brice Stadium had a name yet.

"We are on the cusp of a new name for the old farmer's market area," Tanner responded. "Stay tuned!"

Another user asked the national championship-winning coach if he would ever put his helmet back on to coach from third base.

"I will be an armchair quarterback for all our Gamecocks sports," Tanner said.
