Cantaloupe recall includes Midlands stores

Posted: Updated:

A recall of cantaloupes grown by a North Carolina produce supplier includes stores in the Midlands.

The Athena cantaloupes were recalled because of possible listeria contamination.  No illnesses have  been reported so far.

The recalled cantaloupes were shipped under the name "Burch Farm" and the label reads "Cantaloupe PLU 4319." Stores attempted to pull the affected fruit from their shelves.

The recall includes 118 Food Lion stores and 11 Reid's locations in South Carolina.

If you think you have one of the recalled Cantaloupes, dispose of the cantaloupe and take the item sticker to the store where they bought it for a refund.
