DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -
The State Ethics Commission says they've found probable cause to charge a candidate for Darlington County sheriff with 33 counts of campaign finance violations.
Lamar Chief of Police Charles D. Woodle has been hit with the charges following a 3-month investigation into his campaign activities during the June 2012 primary.
A 13-page Ethics Commission charging document details the charges lobbed against Woodle.
According to that document, Woodle accepted $5,000 worth of campaign contributions, but did not deposit them into his campaign account.
The document goes on to say that Woodle also accepted $2,000 worth of cash contributions and did not report them to the Ethics Commission.
Woodle has also been charged with failing to file detailed contribution reports, failure to detail campaign contributions, failure to itemize expenditures on campaign disclosure reports, and failure to file campaign disclosure reports.
The Ethics Commission has set a hearing for Woodle for Nov. 28.
