COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The Columbia-Richland Fire Department has determined that an unattended candle was the source of a fire that destroyed a home in the Kings Grant subdivision on Tuesday morning.

Columbia-Richland firefighters were dispatched to the subdivision off Jackson Boulevard around 5:30 a.m.

When they arrived at the home on Footpoint Drive, they could see flames coming from the back of the house.

Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins says all five people who were inside the home got out safely. One person was taken to the hospital.

A firefighter also suffered minor injuries.

Jenkins said the blaze caused about $550,000 in damages.
