COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Times are tough right now for a lot of people.

Here's an indicator of how tough: the Harvest Hope Food Bank is running out of food.

As of Thursday, the food inventory at the Harvest Hope warehouse on Shop Rd. was down by 150 tons.

Recently, the staff there has been dealing with an average of about 350 families a day.

The amount of food and money being donated has been stable.

It's just that way more people are running out of alternatives when it comes to putting food on the table.

The food bank says the fastest and easiest way to help is to donate money. 98 cents of every dollar goes directly to food purchases.

But Harvest Hope will take other donations of just about any kind -- not only food, but other items, even furniture.
