COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
The state Republican Party getting ready to face its punishment for pushing up this year's "First in the South" primary.
The state GOP will likely be stripped of half of its delegates at next month's national convention in Tampa. You may remember state GOP leaders moved up our primary date to get ahead of Florida's primary.
National GOP leaders says they did not give South Carolina permission to make that move.
State GOP Chairman Chad Connelly released a statement saying, "Our party leaders are committed to preserving South Carolina's historic 'First in the South' presidential primary. South Carolina will still be well represented in Tampa by over 150 great Republican leaders."
