RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A teen seen running down a road carrying a laptop early Monday turned out to be wanted for burglary.

Richland County Sheriff's Deputies say 17-year-old Shawndrae Griffin was arrested after a deputy saw him running down Chatsworth Rd. carrying a laptop computer.

When the deputy ordered Griffin to stop, Sheriff Leon Lott said he refused.  When deputies caught up with Griffin and were questioning him about some recent burglaries in the area, dispatch informed the deputies a home on Windsor Point Dr. had just been burglarized.

The victim told investigators that she was working in her front yard when she heard a loud noise and found Griffin in her living room, who ran out with her laptop.

Investigators say another man with Griffin broke out a window to escape the house.

Griffin admitted to the burglary that had just occurred.

Deputies say all of the stolen items were recovered except for some cash.

Griffin is charged with burglary and larceny. He is held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Deputies are still looking for Griffin's accomplice, who goes by the name of "Beans." If you know who he is or where he can be found, call Crimestoppers at 1-888-Crime-SC.
