SUMTER, SC (WIS) -

It didn't take Sumter Police long to catch up with a man wanted for robbing a bank Friday afternoon.  They caught up with him right around the corner from the bank, and not far from his home.

Police were called to the National Bank of SC on Wilson Hall Rd. at about 5 p.m. Friday. Employees told them a man showed a weapon to a teller and ordered the teller to fill a bag with currency.

Based on the description of the suspect and getaway vehicle given by witnesses, officers began to immediately search the area.

Within minutes, police say they spotted the vehicle on Wise Dr. near Wilson Hall Rd.  After pulling him over, officers arrested 31 year old Dean Schnyder, who lives on Wise Dr.

Schnyder is charged with armed robbery. If convicted, Schnyder could get up to 25 years in prison.

Police say they recovered the stolen cash.

Nobody was injured.
