CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A Charlotte man told police that a bullet fell into his house on the Fourth of July and finally came to a rest in his child's play room.

The incident was reported after 5 p.m. on the 5500 block of Amity Place, according to the police report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The homeowner told police that a bullet dropped out of the sky and went through the roof of his home, damaging the ceiling and landing in the children's playroom.

People shooting guns into the air on Independence Day is not uncommon but it is not known if this is where the bullet came from.
