A toddler was injured while watching a fireworks display Wednesday night when one of the fireworks flew into his kneecap.

The incident was reported at 9:15 p.m. on Molokai Drive at the city's fireworks show, according to the report from the Tega Cay Police Department.

The child's mother said she and her two-year-old son were sitting on the grassy area between the Glennon Center and Molokai Drive watching the fireworks.

One of the fireworks came down and hit the child's leg, causing a large laceration exposing the right knee cap, according to the report.
