Brittain concedes 7th District to Tinubu

Posted: Updated:

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) With nearly two-thirds of the precincts in the newly created 7th Congressional District reporting, attorney Preston Brittain has conceded the race to Dr. Gloria Bromell Tinubu.

Brittain confirmed to WMBF News that he has conceded the race to Tinubu. Brittain adds that he will be backing her, and supporting Tinubu in the race against the Republican candidate in November.

"This night is about Gloria," says Brittain. "As democrats, we all need to rally around her. This night is about Gloria."

Democratic nominee Dr. Gloria Bromell Tinubu was given the nomination by the SC Election Commission after the primary election, but forced into the run-off with Preston Brittain after an Horry County judge decided votes cast for former candidate Ted Vick should be counted.

With only 66% of the precincts reporting, Tinubu was reported by the AP to have 72% of the votes.
