COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
An incident report released late Friday afternoon reveals more details in the arrest of a former Newberry High School standout and former Gamecock offensive lineman.
Deputies say 21-year-old Kentrell Davis turned himself in Thursday night at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct.
Richland County Sheriff's Department investigators say a female acquaintance of Davis told them that she was sexually assaulted by him back on May 31.
According to Sheriff Leon Lott, the alleged 21-year-old victim said she went to Davis' apartment around 11 p.m. after leaving Five Points that evening. Once at the Maryland Street apartment, the victim says Davis had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
An incident report released Friday afternoon states that the alleged victim was "extremely intoxicated and passed out" after getting to Davis's residence.
The alleged victim said that Davis took her to a bedroom and put in her in bed before returning to the living room, according to the report.
She told investigators that she believes Davis entered the bedroom and then, according the report, he got on top of the her. The alleged victim recalled saying "no" and "leave me alone," but did not remember what happened afterward, the report stated. She told investigators that she believed it was Davis because she recognized his voice.
According to the report, the alleged victim told investigators that she woke up the next morning to find her skirt and underwear had been ripped. There was nobody in the bedroom with her when she woke up, the report stated.
Davis, according to the report, took the alleged victim to another residence in the morning, but the two did not talk about the incident.
The alleged victim then went to the university's student health center to report the incident. According to the report, she was then taken to Richland Memorial Hospital and law enforcement was contacted.
According to the official Gamecock website, Davis is a fifth-year senior lineman who has seen limited snaps on the team since he was recruited to play in 2008. The university athletics department says Davis was informed in April that his scholarship would not be renewed. Since then, the University says Davis has not participated in any team activities.
Davis earned honors as a high school senior for his playing abilities, and played in the Shrine Bowl and All-American Bowl before coming to Columbia.
Davis was released Friday on a $20,000 surety bond.
