LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Three family members got out safely in a house fire in West Columbia Friday morning.

The fire broke out around 11 a.m. at a home off Stonewood Court near Highway 1 and Interstate 26.

Residents say the fire started around the hot water tank in the attic.

"By the time we got up and walked out, water from our attic -- it just started catching on fire," said Dallas Boulware. "The water just started coming down and it was burning our walls, so we walked past it and it was really hot."

The home was a total loss. Two neighboring homes also sustained some damage.

The exact cause is still under investigation.
