OMAHA, NE (WIS) -

South Carolina Coach Ray Tanner says he did not do any sort of rain dance to help get one of his best pitchers ready for an elimination game that was delayed due to weather conditions Wednesday night.

Senior left-hander Michael Roth is now set to get the start against the Kent State Golden Flashes on ESPN2 at noon.

Tanner planned on giving freshman pitcher Jordan Montgomery the start, but decided to give Roth the chance instead.

"We'll go back and talk it over, but like I said yesterday or Monday, if we're going to stay here and advance, Montgomery has got to pitch," Tanner said.

If they beat Kent State, the Gamecocks will play Arkansas again tonight at 9 p.m. EST.

"I was in the room where the radar was and all the NCAA people and I think Coach Strickland and I are comfortable with this being the best decision we could make. Whoever wins our game will have a little momentum going into the night game," Tanner said.
