CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It's definitely not one of the distinctions the Queen City would want to brag about. A recent study by "Off!" bug spray ranked Charlotte 11th in the country for having big problems with bugs.
"I haven't seen it like this in 15 years," said Rick Seifert of The Pest Control Authority.
Seifert says a mild winter and a lot of recent rain have given all sorts of bugs the conditions they need to flourish.But, he says a few things can help keep the critters from getting inside your home.
Seifert suggests pruning tree limbs so they don't come in contact with your home, keeping trash cans parked away from the house, and sealing in any cracks around the foundation of your home with caulk.
Seifert says bugs like roaches, ants and fleas can come in through the tiniest of cracks, and they're looking for a nice cool place to live.
He says you can also contact a professional to deal with the problem, but make sure a pest control company is licensed and experienced.
