HOPKINS, SC (WIS) -

An early morning fire destroyed a home in the Hopkins community Monday and investigators say it was intentionally set.

Columbia-Richland Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins said responded to Sagemont Road around 4:00 and found three-quarters of the home in flames.

Crews were able to knock the fire down but had to get out when the roof collapsed. No firefighters were injured.

Jenkins said the homeowner is away on vacation.

Chief Jenkins estimated the damages to be around $200,000.

The Richland County Fire Marshal's Office has determined the fire was arson and turned the investigation over to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
