YORK, SC (WBTV) -

Police in York say an tractor trailer caused the highway to be shut down for several hours on Saturday after it spilled pig guts across the highway.

The incident was reported on 5:30 a.m. Saturday along U.S. Highway 321-bypass at S. Congress Street in York, according to the York Police Department.

The truck was heading north and traveling too fast into the curve when the driver stated that he ran off the side of the road then back onto the road causing the truck to overturn.

The truck was carrying remnants of slaughtered pigs which spilled all over the roadway and caused the road to be shut down for several hours.

Crews were able to clean up the road and move the truck, according to the report.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. and the road was re-opened at approximately 10:45 am.

No injuries were reported.
