CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

On Wednesday, Clemson University police released dash cam video that was taken the night star Tiger football player Sammy Watkins was arrested.

On May 4, Watkins, 18, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and simple possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors. Additionally, Amadou Dia, 18, a member of the men's soccer team, was charged with simple possession of marijuana.

Sgt. Jason Cassell said in his report that he saw a car, being driven by Watkins, scrape a curb. He also said the car did not have a proper license plate light.

The video shows that after Cassell told Watkins why he was stopped, Cassell and Officer Travis Roberts ask Watkins and Dia to get out of the car after smelling marijuana.

On the video, Watkins can be seen agreeing to a search of his car.

The police report said that Watkins admitted that he had the prescription drugs adderal and vyvanse, but did not have a prescription for them. The video shows the officers pulling something from Watkins' pockets.

On the video, officers can be seen searching Dia and pulling a clear bag out of his pocket that appeared to have a leafy substance inside. After seeing that, Watkins can be heard on the tape telling an officer that he is in possession of marijuana.

"Sir," Watkins said.

"Yes," an office replies.

"I got some on me also," Watkins said. "In my pants."

"Where in your pants?" the officer asks.

"All the way in there," Watkins replies.

"Where?" the officer again asks.

"In my crotch," Watkins replies.

The video showed both Watkins and Dia being arrested and taken to jail. During the trip, an officer can be heard thanking Watkins for his cooperation.

Watkins' attorney, former Solicitor Bob Ariail, said the video shows that his client was not under the influence of drugs or impaired.

Ariail said his client has applied for the pre-trial intervention program, which could lead to his charges being dismissed.
