LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

Eighth graders at Lexington Middle School learned an important lesson in dreams, the future, and decision-making through a program called "Shattered Dreams."

The Lexington Police Department hosts the event annually to teach rising high school freshman the importance of wearing a seatbelt and not driving impaired.

Students got a chance to see a car from a 2007 wreck that killed 16-year-old White Knoll High School baseball player Byron Scott Martin, Jr.

Byron's sister, Caitlyn Martin, spoke at the event and told the students her brother was not wearing a seatbelt in the crash that killed him.
