NCAA suspends, reprimands South Carolina assistant coach

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The NCAA has suspended South Carolina men's soccer assistant Bert Molinary for his next tournament game for verbally abusing a referee during the Gamecocks loss to Wake Forest in last fall's NCAA opening game.

The NCAA Division I men's soccer committee said Molinary would miss the next NCAA tournament game he's involved, no matter what school he's with at the time. The committee reprimanded and fined Molinary for his actions. The committee said Molinary verbally abused the referee after being asked to go back to the coaches' area on the sideline during the match.

The Gamecocks lost to Wake Forest on penalty kicks.

Molinary has been at South Carolina the past eight seasons. He is the team's recruiting coordinator.
