A train collided with a log truck Monday night just outside of Lone Star on Highway 267, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the truck was trying to beat the train to a railroad crossing when the collision happened. The truck was dragged by the train for several hundred feet before coming to a stop.

Officials say there were minor injuries in the collision, but did not specify who exactly was hurt. No one was taken to the hospital.

Several homes in the area were also evacuated as a precaution.

The state Department of Public Service setup a detour along Highway 267. The Sheriff's Department tells News 10 the road has since been reopened and the train is back on the tracks.

A local chapter of the South Carolina Red Cross has also responded to the scene, providing volunteers and a mobile feeding truck to the first responders.
