When LB Dantzler purchased his betta fish for $2 about 4 1/2 months ago, he never imagined the good fortune it would bring the Gamecocks.
So far, the "Fear the Fish" phenomenon has inspired the baseball team to seven straight wins. If you pay close attention during games, the team even salutes the fish when they score runs.
The fish, named "Reptar" after a cartoon dinosaur from the Nickelodeon series Rugrats, even accompanies the team during road games thanks to his own travel container and tank.
Reptar and the team hit the road Thursday for a three-game series against Arkansas starting Friday night.
Whether or not you personally believe in good luck charms, it really does not matter because the Gamecocks certainly believe the "Fear the Fish" mentality helps on game days.
