South Carolina State linebacker Donovan Richard and safety Dominique Ellis both have been offered free-agent deals with NFL teams over the weekend.
Following the draft, Ellis and Richard accepted free agent contract offers from two other AFC teams. Ellis revealed on his Facebook page his intentions to report to the Kansas City Chiefs, while Richard and his agent Adam Sattler reached agreement on a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Richard, a Georgetown, SC tallied over 200 tackles the past two seasons and finished as SC State All-Time leading Career Tackler. A first-team All-MEAC player for the Bulldogs this past season, he is expected to play more of a safety role with the Jaguars.
Ellis was a two-time All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference first-team selection and Sheridan All-American. As a senior, the North Carolina State transfer amassed 64 tackles and three interceptions, one of which was a 55-yard touchdown return which sealed a 26-18 win over Bethune-Cookman.
South Carolina State now currently has a total of eight players on NFL rosters.
