Victim in shooting outside nightclub identified

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Coroner's Office has identified the victim in a shooting outside a nightclub.

Thai Quoc Tran, 21, was shot multiple times after deputies say he hit a security officer with his car around 11:45 p.m. Friday.

Officials say at about 11:45 p.m. Friday, Tran was driving erratically in the parking lot of Club Elements on Columbia Mall Boulevard and hit several vehicles.

As he drove away, Wilson said a nightclub security officer tried to stop the vehicle by reaching into shut off the ignition, but the officer was run over. The security guard was taken to Providence Hospital where his condition was listed as stable.

Deputies are still investigating the incident.

This is the second incident involving gunfire outside Club Elements in two weeks.  On March 25th, a man was arrested for firing shots at the building after he was ejected from the club.
