COTTAGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Twice a day, Brandon Farmer fills out lottery tickets for his aunt. But Monday, he also filled one out for himself after hearing a million dollar ticket was sold at same convenience store he buys from in Cottageville.
"I was shocked and I was hoping my aunt won it," says Farmer.
But his aunt wasn't the lucky winner, in fact, no one has stepped up yet to claim the prize.
"We're excited," says Penny Thomas, who owns the PT's Zip 'n Go convenience store.
"I was in bed taking a nap and my husband came in and said you're not going to believe it but we got a million dollar winner," says Thomas. "We're happy for whoever won but kind of hoping it's a local."
Thomas says she got the call Saturday and still has yet to have anyone claim the jackpot.
The winning Mega Millions ticket matched all five white ball numbers drawn on Friday night. Whoever bought the ticket also purchased a "Megaplier" to multiply the $250,000 prize to $1 million.
The numbers on the ticket read 16, 25, 28, 32, and 40.
Before the million dollar winner, the store's biggest pay out came from a $250,000 scratch off ticket.
"We just want to say thank you for the support of our customers because without them we wouldn't be here," says Thomas.
