Clemson's Jennings suspended "indefinitely" from team

Posted: Updated:

CLEMSON, SC (WIS) - Clemson junior Milton Jennings has been suspended from the basketball team indefinitely, according to a university spokesman.

The Athletics Department cites failing to comply with the team's academic standards as the reason why Jennings was suspended.

Jennings is currently the team's 4th leading scorer and averages 25.4 minutes a game.

Jennings did not make the trip to the University of Virginia for the team's Tuesday game with the 16th-ranked Cavaliers.

The suspension could create a potential distraction for Clemson who will take on a very good Cavaliers defense that ranks second in that nation scoring defense.

"Virginia is a team that, you know, is just hard to play against," said Clemson coach Brad Brownell. "There's not going to be many fast breaks.  Three's not going to be easy baskets.  They don't turn the ball over.  You have to out execute them in the half court.  I'm glad we've won a couple games and have some good momentum going into the game, but it will be a challenge."
