Aiken County, SC (WFXG) -
Joshua Jones appeared
in court Monday, growling and baring his teeth as he stood before the judge
deciding his bond.
Magistrate Judge, Donna Williamson
asked Jones, "Do you have the income to hire an attorney on your own?"
Jones replied, "Does it look like it? G** D*****!"
Jones continued this behavior after Williamson
asked again if he wanted a lawyer.
"Do you want to have an attorney,"
asked Williamson. In response, Jones shouted, "I don't care!"
Jones stood on his feet, swaying back
and forth as he listened to his charges.
He is charged with the first degree
murder of Aiken officer, Sandra Rodgers. He was denied bond for the murder
charge until his circuit court hearing is held.
He was also given a $10,000 bond on
his weapons charge.
James Jones, the father of the suspect
says his son isn't mentally stable and has a history of trouble.
James Jones said, "He stabbed me,
and then he ended up shooting himself in the head and came to my house and laid
out in the backyard and expected me to come back home and find him in the yard
dead."
James Jones says his son's
uncontrolled behavior is due to an undiagnosed medical condition and says there
is more here than meets the eye.
"It's gotta be a work of satan,
it's a spirit world that is way beyond us," said James Jones.
And for the many who are mourning the
loss of Rodgers, Jones behavior was painful to watch.
If Jones is convicted of the weapons
charge he may face up to five years in prison; if convicted of murder he may
face life in prison or death.
Jones may be appearing for a preliminary
court hearing on March 9.
