DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A military recruiter in Dillon County found himself behind bars over the weekend after allegations of sexual misconduct with a student.

Captain Cliff Arnette with the Dillon County Sheriff's Office told WMBF News that 34-year-old Corey Wilson, a recruiter for the South Carolina National Guard, was arrested Friday and charged with Sexual Battery and a Lewd Act on a Minor, a charge involving a 16-year-old Latta High School student.

The victim was 16 years old at the time of the alleged incident in May 2011, during the time that Wilson visited the school as a recruiter. An investigation into those allegations by the Dillon County Sheriff's Office began after an individual from within the school system notified the school's resource officer about the alleged behavior.

Wilson turned himself in to the Dillon County Sheriff's Office on Friday with the assistance of an attorney.

Wilson posted bond a $45,000 set on Friday and has been released from custody.

An investigation into the allegations is ongoing by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division with the assistance of the Dillon County Sheriff's Office.
