Police report new incident involving nude man

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Columbia Police say an incident between a female jogger and a pantsless driver in the Shandon neighborhood could be connected to two earlier, similar incidents.

Police say the incident occurred on Jan. 29 at the 2600 block of Monroe Street in the Shandon neighborhood around 4:45 p.m.

Officials say a woman reported seeing a man in a silver sedan while she was jogging in the area. The woman told police the suspect called her over and asked for directions.

When she approached the vehicle, the woman said the man was nude from the waist down and was fondling himself.

"He was not wearing garments below his waist, she noted that and was able to leave the scene, but she wasn't able to give us any information," said Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott.

The suspect fled the scene and was seen driving westbound on Monroe Street toward Harden Street.

The suspect is described as possibly between the ages of 30 to 40 years old and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt.

As for the two previous incidents, police say the man they are looking for in those is between the ages of 40 and 50 years old, possibly 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 150-180 pounds with a medium build and is possibly balding. That suspect was also seen driving a silver Honda.

"This may be someone who is doing this now, but that cannot be tolerated. That cannot be tolerated in the community and we have to make sure that that person is taken off the street," said Scott.

If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
