AIKEN, SC (WIS) - Members of the Aiken community gathered Sunday night for a candlelight vigil for an Aiken police officer who was shot and killed while on duty Saturday.

The vigil was held at Eustis Park in Aiken, where 49 year-old Master Corporal Sandra Rogers was shot Saturday morning.

The Shellhouse Funeral Home says services for Master Cpl. Rogers are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the University of South Carolina Aiken Convocation Center. She will be buried at Historic Bethany Cemetery in downtown Aiken.

Rogers was investigating a suspicious activity call in the park at about 7:30 Saturday morning when she was shot.  She later died at the hospital.

The man accused of killing Rogers, 26 year-old Joshua Tremaine Jones is scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge Monday in Aiken.

Jones also faces charges in Georgia for the shooting death of his girlfriend.

Police found the body of 21-year-old Cayce Vick in her Richmond County, Georgia apartment Saturday after she didn't show up for work. She had been shot in the head.

Rogers  had been with the Aiken Public Safety department for nearly 28 years.

It was the second deadly shooting of an Aiken Police officer in less than six weeks.  Officer Scotty Richardson was killed during a traffic stop on December 20.
