COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney still holds a considerable lead in the latest polling on the South Carolina GOP primary, but former House Speaker Newt Gingrich could have a little momentum before Saturday's contest.
According to the CNN/TIME/ORC poll, Romney has the support of 33 percent of registered voters while Gingrich has 23 percent.
Gingrich has gained 5 percent of support since a Jan. 4 poll while Romney has lost 4 percent.
Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum comes in third with 16 percent, Rep. Ron Paul has 13 percent, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry comes in last with 6 percent.
The pollsters interviewed 1,525 adults in the Palmetto State and identified 505 likely voters.
