CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
A funny moment on the campaign trail happened Thursday in the Holy City when current senator and former Republican presidential candidate John McCain mistakenly endorsed his White House rival instead of his new GOP pal Mitt Romney.
"I am confident with the leadership and the backing of the American people. President Obama will turn this country around," McCain said. "We believe in America. We believe that our best days are ahead of us."
Gov. Nikki Haley:"President Romney."
Sen. McCain: "President Romney. Excuse me! President Romney. President Romney."
Romney: "Not to be confused!"
Sen. McCain: "Romney! Argh! President Romney! President Romney will turn … will turn this around."
The Arizona senator gave his endorsement to Romney on Wednesday.
