Coroner: Man found dead in vehicle was shot to death

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man found dead in a vehicle in a parking lot on Devine St. Saturday night was killed, according to the coroner.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Otis L. Williams, Jr., of Orangeburg was found in a pickup truck that was parked at the Pitt Stop at 4452 Devine St.

An autopsy shows that the Williams, Jr. died from complications of gunshot wounds, according to Watts.

Williams, Jr. was found inside the vehicle around 11:00 p.m., but employees at the store say they had seen the car in the parking lot since at least 5:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Police said Williams, Jr. was found with substances believed to be narcotics. The substances seized by officers are in the process of being analyzed for positive identification.

The Columbia Police Department is seeking any information that will help them figure out who shot Williams, Jr.
