SUMTER, SC (WIS) - A Sumter woman is in jail after deputies said she stabbed another woman to death in her own home Tuesday night.

Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said deputies responded to the South Forge Apartments off of Highway 261 near the Wedgefield area for a reported stabbing at one of the units in the complex. Upon arrival deputies, found 30-year-old Rebecca Boyle with multiple stab wounds.

Boyle was taken to Tuomey Medical Center, where she died a short time later. Deputies arrested 28-year-old Latesha Smith and charged her with murder in connection to the death.

Dennis say the two women got into a verbal altercation that got physical and resulted in the stabbing. Both women lived in the apartment complex and knew each other, but they are still trying to determine what started the fight.

Dennis said the stabbing occurred in Smith's home.
