Two killed in two separate accidents

HAMPTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol says two people are dead as a result of two separate accidents in Hampton County Saturday.

Troopers say the first accident occurred around 1:30pm on SC-17 when the driver, 22-year-old John Anderson, drove off the left side of the road, overcorrected to the right, overturned and hit a utility pole.

Anderson was killed as a result of the accident. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Two others were also in the vehicle. They have been identified as 22-year-old Samuel Freeman and 21-year-old Joel Freeman. Both men were ejected from the vehicle and were transported to Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

Authorities say the second accident happened at 9:30pm on Secondary 225 when 58-year-old Robert H. Crosby swerved to left of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

Both accidents remain under investigation by the Highway Patrol and MAIT.
