SALLEY, SC (WIS) - The Salley Police Chief's daughter died Wednesday evening after her car crashed and caught on fire, according to the Aiken County Coroner.
Lisa M. Bledsoe, 20, died shortly before 6:00pm when her 1995 Ford Escort crashed on Highway 39 near Salley, according to Coroner Tim Carlton. Bledoe is the daughter of Police Chief JD Bledsoe.
Carlton said Lisa Bledsoe was traveling south when her car left the roadway, over-corrected, crossed over both lanes and left the roadway on the northbound side, struck a tree and burst into flames. It took the fire dept about an hour to extinguish the flame and extract Bledsoe from the vehicle.
Bledsoe was returning home from her work at Amick Farms in Batesburg when the crash occurred, according to Carlton.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday in Newberry. Toxicology is pending.
