CAMDEN, SC (WIS) - It was last Friday when cabbie Daniel Admassu was shot and killed by Nicholas Rivers at a restaurant on Two Notch Road.
After the shooting, Rivers led deputies on a high speed chase through Kershaw County in Admassu's stolen cab.
The chase ended when deputies say Rivers crashed the cab and shot himself.
Video of the chase gives a front seat view of how police were able to stop him.
In the video, you can hear the officer scream and because of the radio traffic, Rivers knew what was coming.
Eventually the suspect killed himself after the chase.
While deputies from surrounding counties followed the cab thru town, Camden Police set up stop sticks. Chief Joe Floyd explains to us the mission that slowed down Rivers.
"If he's coming in our city, #1, try to stop him with deployment of stop sticks and #2, try to make the path clear so nobody gets hurt," said Chief Floyd.
The chief says moments before officers pushed the sticks into the road an unassuming bus traveled down the path, just barely missing the stop sticks.
"It could've been a lot worse, if our guys wouldn't have gotten that school bus out of the road." said Chief Floyd.
Officers say they've had these stop sticks for ten years, but this is the first time they've been able to successfully use them.
