HENDERSONVILLE, NC (WYFF) - A teenage girl has admitted to leaving her deceased baby in a restroom at a North Carolina grocery store, police said.

After releasing surveillance video earlier this week, Hendersonville, NC police interviewed a teenage couple in connection to discovery of the baby.

Capt. David Adams said the teenage girl admitted leaving her deceased baby in a trash can in the women's bathroom at BI-LO grocery store on Four Seasons Boulevard hours before a baby's body was found there Sunday night.

The female baby appeared to be one to two days old. The child was wrapped in a white blanket with Spanish words printed on it.

Adams said he didn't know yet if the boyfriend was the baby's father.

Adams said the teens were not in custody and he did not expect charges to be filed.

Adams said if there was no foul play in the baby's death, the mother could be charged with felony concealment of a child.
