People remember NASCAR giant

DARLINGTON, SC (WIS) – It is the first Southern 500 since the death of former Darlington Raceway President Jim Hunter. He lost a battle with cancer in October at the age of 71.

One year ago, Jim Hunter sat in the Darlington Raceway Media Center that bears his name. Five months later, he was gone.

Several NASCARr drivers competed in the first Jim Hunter Memorial Golf Tournament in Florence Thursday.

Hunter was a former USC football player. Elliott Sadler recalled how much Hunter loved the Gamecocks.

ESPN NASCAR analyst Brad Daugherty played basketball at North Carolina. He enjoyed some friendly sports debates with Hunter.

Now, people are sharing their memories of a NASCAR giant.
