California judge to decide if paralyzed SC mother can have visitation with kids

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A judge is expected to decide whether a

paralyzed woman who can't eat, speak or move is entitled to regular

parental visitation rights with her three young children.

Abbie Dorn of Myrtle Beach, S.C., was paralyzed by a series of

medical errors as she was giving birth to triplets in June 2006 in

a Los Angeles hospital.

Since then, the children's father has divorced her and is

raising them alone at his Los Angeles home. Dan Dorn says he

believes his ex-wife is unaware of her surroundings and that having

4-year-olds spend extensive time with their mother would only

traumatize them.

Superior Court Judge Frederick C. Shaller is expected to rule

Thursday after hearing closing arguments from attorneys for both
