Class disruption at Midlands high school leads to 4 arrests

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - Four Sumter High School students were arrested after an incident that interrupted three classrooms Wednesday.

The Sumter Police Department said two of the girls were fighting and overturning desks while the other two girls were screaming profanities at each other and the two involved in the fight.

All four were taken into custody. Major Alvin Holston said one of the girls did resist arrest. They were charged with public disorderly conduct and disturbing schools.

After the incident, Major Holston said officers searched and found a knife in one girl's purse. She was charged with an additional count of having an unlawful weapon on campus.
