CHARLESTON, SC (AP) - South Carolina is now experiencing the height of the flu season. Health officials said the coast has been hit the hardest.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that through January, the number of flu cases was higher in emergency rooms along the coast than elsewhere.
Bob Behanian with the Trident Health System said while December was quiet, flu increased last month and had been even higher the last several weeks.
Health officials said it is not too late to get vaccinated against the flu. The vaccine protects against several flu viruses.
