NEW YORK (CBS) – The No. 1 internet search engine, Google, plans to add more than 6,000 employees this year.
Although the company did not say how many of those jobs would be added in the U.S., this will be the company's largest expansion yet. Last year, Google's workforce grew by 23 percent.
Google's smaller rival, Yahoo, is cutting 1 percent of its global workforce in its second round of layoffs in six weeks.
In December, Yahoo announced it was laying off 600 people. The news came the same day Yahoo said sales fell 4 percent last quarter.
