21-year-old dies after car strikes utility pole

WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man died in an early morning accident Saturday in West Columbia after deputies said he was ejected from his vehicle.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department responded to a two-car accident in the 2,700 block of US 378 just after midnight.

Coroner Harry Harman said 21-year-old Christopher Drawdy was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck a Chevy Blazer, went off the right side of the road, and hit a utility pole.

He said Drawdy was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicle were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.
