COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A senior officer with the US Department of Commerce met with South Carolina business and government leaders Friday.
Assistant US Secretary of Commerce Suresh Kumar encouraged leaders to look into exporting more products. In South Carolina, almost 29% of all manufacturing employees work for companies who ship goods out of the country.
Kumar appeared on WIS News 10's Sunrise Friday morning. "Our folks can give you the soup to nuts treatment," said Kumar, "They can actually determine which products make sense. They can help you connect with companies. They can connect partners, distributors and wholesalers and make trade happen."
Kumar said the commerce department has trade specialists available to help American companies of every size compete in the global export market.
