COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - While South Carolina didn't see any snow from a major winter storm that pounded the Mid-Atlantic states Wednesday, it will travel to the region Friday morning to assist those who are without power.
Progressive Energy announced it's sending 200 workers and support personnel from the Carolinas to help PHI, which provides power to the Washington, D.C. area. It will also send an additional 150 contractors to work with PHI and Baltimore Gas and Electric. The crews are expected to be there through Sunday.
BGE has already restored service to 100,000 customers but 80,000 are still without power. PHI reported that it's dealing with more than 180,000 customers who have no power.
