$300,000 worth of counterfeit clothing found during sting

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - More than $300,000 in counterfeit clothing was confiscated after a partnered sting between the South Carolina Secretary of State's Office and the Columbia Police Department on January 26th.

The merchandise collected ranged from coats to watches and misrepresented a number of companies, including Casio, Ralph Lauren, and Red Monkey. "The sale of counterfeit merchandise hurts manufacturers, retailers, and the economy," said Secretary of State Mark Hammond.

Jessica Norris was arrested and charged with trafficking in counterfeit goods at Evolution Designer Apparel in the Dutch Square Mall. A spokesperson with the SC Secretary of State's Office said Norris was identified as the owner. If convicted, she could face a fine up to $25,000 and/or five years in prison.
