BEAUFORT, SC (AP) - An attorney for the company that helped set up traffic cameras to catch speeders on Interstate 95 in Jasper County has asked a federal judge to toss out a lawsuit challenging their use.
The Beaufort Gazette reports a class-action suit filed last month in federal court alleges using the cameras to issue tickets is unconstitutional.
Morgan Templeton is an attorney for iTraffic and says the case should be dismissed because the three motorists who sued have already paid their fines to the town of Ridgeland.
Templeton says the plaintiffs are not arguing they did not speed, but are complaining they got caught. He says they lost their right to sue by paying the fine.
